Owners of Google Nest devices are set to face an increase of $20 in their subscription charges for enhanced features and extended footage history of their security cameras and doorbells. As highlighted by 9to5Google, Google has informed US subscribers that the standard Nest Aware subscription will now be priced at $8 monthly or $80 annually, a rise from its previous $6 monthly or $60 annual rates.

Introduced in 2019, the comprehensive Nest Aware subscription plan covers all devices owned by a user. Prior to this, subscribers needed individual subscriptions for each camera they owned. This plan allows users to leverage intelligent motion detection that can distinguish various activities, receive alerts for dog barks and human voices, and provides a 30-day video history of recorded events. Without this subscription, users can only view up to three hours of saved recordings on their device.

The premium subscription, Nest Aware Plus, has also seen a price rise and is now available at $15 per month or $150 annually, an increase from the former $12 monthly or $120 annually. This higher tier not only includes the basic plan features but also provides a continuous 10-day video history and 60 days of event-specific video history.

Google attributes these price adjustments to aligning with market dynamics, which may encompass inflation and adjustments in local taxes. The revised pricing is already applicable for new subscribers, while existing users will see the changes reflected in their bills from November 6 onwards. Furthermore, Google mentioned in its communication that international subscribers will receive a 30-day notice prior to any price modifications, suggesting that this price adjustment could soon be implemented in other regions.
