Samsung has unveiled its latest portable solid-state drive (SSD), the Portable SSD T9, featuring impressive performance capabilities. This SSD offers sequential read and write speeds of up to 2,000 MB/s through the USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 interface. It comes in storage options of 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB.
Compared to its predecessor, the T7, Samsung claims that the T9 is approximately twice as fast. The USB interface supports two lanes of 10 Gbps operation, resulting in 20 Gbps data transfer rates, significantly enhancing speed when transferring large files or high-resolution videos. This improved speed can save time for content creators during demanding tasks such as video editing. Samsung states that it can transfer a 4GB video in nearly two seconds or a 90-minute 4K recording in just 12 seconds.
The Samsung Portable SSD T9 boasts a robust build with an aluminum body and a rubber covering, designed to endure drops of up to nine feet (slightly less than the T7 Shield). Samsung highlights the rubber covering as offering both heat control and a comfortable grip. The SSD ships with USB Type C-to-C and USB Type C-to-A cables, and it comes with a five-year limited warranty.
It is compatible with Samsung’s Magician software, which provides performance benchmarks, security features, and firmware updates. This software is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Android operating systems.
The Samsung Portable SSD T9 is available for purchase starting today on Samsung’s website and through various retail partners, including Amazon. Pricing options include $140 for the 1TB model, $240 for the 2TB model, and $440 for the 4TB model.
