Less than a week after the release of Google’s Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro models, a leak has surfaced regarding the forthcoming budget version, the Pixel 8a. Renderings by OnLeaks and Smartprix indicate that the Pixel 8a shares the rounded design of the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro while retaining the camera module from the existing Pixel 7a.
The Pixel 8a is expected to be somewhat smaller and slimmer, maintaining the same 6.1-inch display. The rear module accommodates two cameras, while the front features a hole-punch camera design as before. The bezels appear to be relatively thin, with only a small chin at the bottom.
Although the design may be based on CAD drawings, it closely resembles a leaked physical model revealed last month by Abhishek Yadav. If both align with the actual product, we can anticipate a premium design for a phone that is expected to be notably more affordable than the $800 and $1,000 Pixel 8/Pixel 8 Pro models (the Pixel 7a launched at $500). If Google adheres to its previous approach, the Pixel 8a will also feature the same Tensor G3 chips as the pricier models. Details about other shared or omitted features will likely emerge with the official announcement or through additional leaks.
