Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro, a limited edition variant designed to pay homage to the iconic SGH-E700, known as the SGH-E715 in the US on T-Mobile, which was originally launched 20 years ago in 2003. This special edition retains the same indigo blue and silver color scheme as the original device, and it features similar pixel graphics for the clock widget on the cover screen, along with an exclusive cityscape-style animation on the Flex Window. The Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro will be available for purchase in Korea and several European countries, though it will not be sold in the United States.

The SGH-E700 marked a significant milestone for Samsung, serving as the company’s first mobile phone with an integrated antenna. It quickly became a massive success, with more than 10 million units sold. The popularity of this phone played a crucial role in elevating Samsung’s status in the mobile phone industry at that time, contributing to its current position as a major player in the smartphone market. Interestingly, the phone was so beloved that in 2007, Samsung effectively reissued it with new radios, capitalizing on the nostalgia surrounding the device, even though it was just four years old at the time.

For those who purchase the Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro, Samsung will include three Flipsuit cards showcasing logos from various eras in the company’s history, a Flipsuit case, and a collector card engraved with a unique serial number. This special edition device will be available for purchase starting November 1 through Samsung’s website in Korea, the UK, France, Germany, Spain, and Australia.
