Apple’s financial services, encompassing Apple Pay, Apple Cash, Apple Card, and Wallet, encountered service disruptions for certain users between 6:15 AM and 6:49 AM Eastern this morning, as reported on the company’s System Status page. While the extent of the issues remains unclear, intermittent Apple Pay problems were also noted earlier this year.
On a personal level, I successfully utilized Apple Pay without any complications around 9 AM ET to place a pick-up order at Starbucks. Since its launch in 2014, it took some time for Apple Pay and other contactless payment options to gain widespread acceptance in the US. Nowadays, the convenience of tapping your phone or Apple Watch for payments is supported by most major retailers, with the exception of Home Depot, for reasons unknown.
