Acura has initiated reservations for its inaugural fully electric vehicle (EV), the Acura ZDX, with a starting price of approximately $60,000 for the baseline model featuring a single-motor (rear-wheel-drive) powertrain. Prospective buyers can place orders today, and the first deliveries of this “performance SUV” are anticipated in early 2024.
Earlier this year, Acura announced its intention to transition to online-only sales for Acura EVs from 2024 onwards, and the preorders for the ZDX reflect this shift. The EV is made accessible through a “new, omni-channel digital sales process,” allowing buyers to manage the process independently at home or receive assistance from Acura dealers, although the actual EVs won’t be physically present at the dealership.
The ZDX is available in two models. The standard A-Spec variant, starting at $60,000, boasts a 325-mile range, 340 horsepower, a rear-wheel-drive single motor, and 20-inch wheels. On the other hand, the all-wheel-drive ZDX Type S, priced at around $70,000, offers a slightly shorter 288-mile range but compensates with a more robust 500 horsepower, 22-inch wheels, and is described by parent company Honda as “the most powerful and best-performing Acura SUV ever.”
The Acura ZDX is equipped with a range of features, including Android Auto, built-in Google apps, and Apple CarPlay integration. The interior boasts an 11-inch touchscreen for the driver, an 11.3-inch center display, and a standard Bang & Olufsen audio system. Safety features include a rear pedestrian alert, blind zone steering assist, and hands-free cruise driver assistance.
In terms of charging capabilities, the ZDX supports DC Fast Charging, with the ability to add 81 miles of range in just a 10-minute top-off. Additionally, Honda has collaborated with six other automakers for a project aimed at establishing a network of 30,000 charging stations across North America. This initiative is anticipated to commence in the US by the summer of 2024.
Interested buyers can place orders for either model of the Acura ZDX through Acura’s online reservations portal. Notably, pre-orders come with a bonus Acura Energy Key Card, which unlocks exclusive benefits, including discounts to Acura entertainment partners and special events. This added perk provides an extra incentive for early reservations and enhances the overall ownership experience for customers.
