Meta has fulfilled its promise, allowing Meta Quest 2, 3, and Pro owners to stream a vast selection of games through Xbox Cloud Gaming. To enjoy this feature, users will need an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership, a compatible controller, a stable internet connection, and the latest Quest software update. Once these prerequisites are met, users can download the Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) app and immerse themselves in games like Starfield, Cocoon, and Halo Infinite on a virtual screen of their choice.
Meta offers the flexibility of choosing from four virtual display sizes. Players can opt for an Xbox-themed virtual space or create the illusion of a floating display, leveraging the full-color passthrough features of Quest 3 and Pro. Supported controllers include Xbox gamepads, PlayStation 4 peripherals, and the Nintendo Switch Pro. Compatibility with the PlayStation 5’s DualSense will be introduced at a later date.
This collaboration marks the second significant cross-platform integration on Quest in recent weeks. With the addition of Steam Link support, users can now wirelessly play PC VR games on their headsets. Although some users previously accessed Xbox Cloud Gaming on Quest headsets through workarounds, the introduction of the official app simplifies the process for everyone, making it more accessible for gaming on the go or when the TV is occupied.
